Chelsea Sack Manager Thomas Tuchel on New Owners' 100th Day
Tuchel's Departure Follows Disappointing Results
Former German Manager Parts Ways with Club
Chelsea have parted ways with manager Thomas Tuchel, the club announced on Wednesday, following a disappointing start to the season that has seen them drop to sixth in the Premier League and suffer a 1-0 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.
Tuchel, 49, joined Chelsea in January 2021 and led the team to Champions League glory in his first season. However, the Blues have struggled for consistency this term, winning just four of their opening seven league games and losing both of their Champions League group matches.
The decision to sack Tuchel comes on the 100th day of the new owners' reign, led by American businessman Todd Boehly. Boehly and his consortium completed a takeover of the club from Roman Abramovich in May.
