President Biden Celebrates Birthday, Reflecting on Life and Career

A Lifetime in Public Service, Marked by Tragedy and Triumph

WASHINGTON, D.C. - President Joe Biden celebrated his 80th birthday on Sunday, November 20th, becoming the first octogenarian to hold the office of President of the United States.

Biden, who has spent nearly half a century in public service, was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania in 1942. He served as a Senator for 36 years before becoming Vice President under Barack Obama from 2009 to 2017.

Throughout his life, Biden has endured significant personal loss. His first wife and young daughter were killed in a car accident in 1972. He also lost his eldest son, Beau, to brain cancer in 2015.

Despite these tragedies, Biden has remained committed to public service. He was elected President in 2020, becoming the oldest person to assume the office.
