Supergrass Cornwall anniversary show no 'dynamic pricing' promise
Organizer says festival-goers should expect a 'pretty reasonable' face-value price for 2023
Supergrass's one-off anniversary show in Cornwall next summer will not use 'dynamic pricing', the festival's organiser has promised.
Joining the likes of The Kooks, The Coral and IDLES for the August bank holiday weekend show, Supergrass will play their 25th anniversary bash at the Eden Project's Eden Sessions on Thursday, August 24, 2023. The show will mark the 25th anniversary of the band's Mercury Prize-nominated debut album, I Should Coco. Tickets for the show go on sale at 9am on Friday, December 9, and Eden Sessions' creative director, Ben Walter, says there are no plans to use dynamic pricing - like the system that caused some anger at this year's Glastonbury Festival. Speaking to CornwallLive, Walter said: "We're definitely not doing dynamic pricing. We may well do early-bird pricing. The important thing for us and Supergrass is that it's accessible. "My view is that it's a very special show, so it should be a pretty reasonable face-value price." He added: "We don't want it to be exorbitant, we want people to be able to come to the show and not feel ripped off." Dynamic pricing is a system which uses algorithms to adjust ticket prices in real time, based on demand. It can lead to tickets becoming more expensive the closer you get to the event. Glastonbury Festival was criticised for using the system this year, after some people were asked to pay more than £500 for a ticket resale. Supergrass co-frontman Gaz Coombes told CornwallLive in September that the band jumped at the chance to play the Eden Sessions: "When the offer came in to play The Eden Project, we were all buzzing. We love playing special gigs and locations." Tickets for Supergrass at the Eden Sessions will be priced at £71.50 including booking fee and will be available from 9am on December 9.
